BOWED OR DEFLECTED BLOCK WALLS

Bowing walls are caused by shifting soil, sinking, or water damage. The most common solution is to reinforce them.

The basic method of repair for a bowed concrete block wall is to stabilize it, that is, to stop any further movement and increase the strength of the wall to resist lateral pressure. There are two materials, steel and concrete, that are commonly used to stabilize these walls and each has its advantages.

At SafeStep Building Treatments Inc. we have many techniques for repairing bowed or deflected walls:

-Reinforcing by grout filling and rebar

-Pushing back the wall with hydraulics

-Pouring a new wall beside existing

-Using supports while rebuilding old wall

-Most structural repairs are usually done to engineers specs. The city of Kingston building department will be asking for a building permit for this repair.
